McLEOD, Marjorie Pauline (nee-Stordy)

Marjorie passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Beverly Center seniors residence.

She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Donald Alexander McLeod and her younger son John Robert of Calgary. She is survived by her son Donald and his wife Patricia of Winnipeg; her grandson Don III and wife Lyndsey of Strathroy, Ont. and great-grandchildren Asha (3)and Lincoln (1); and grandson Paul and wife Nancy of Winnipeg and great-grandchildren Raina (7) and Nova (3). Marjorie was schooled at the York School for Girls in Vancouver and after graduating became an X-ray technician at Vancouver General hospital until she married in 1944. After the War she and Don came to Calgary and she settled into the role of wife and life partner of an executive in the “oil patch”. She blossomed into an outstanding homemaker and mother as well as a wonderful cook. As a mom she was tough and tender in the appropriate proportions and always put her family ahead of herself. Marj had a wicked sense of humour which she has spread to all members of her family. She will be sadly missed.

A Gathering to honor Marjorie’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through

Condolence Messages

  1. charlotte Bawel :

    To the family of Marjorie,
You don’t know me- but I got to know Marjorie when I visited my Mom (another Marjory) at the Beverley Centre. I always wondered what her life story was because she of course couldn’t tell me- but we would have little chats and her face always lit up with a smile when I spoke to her, so even though the dementia took her memory it didn’t take her sweet nature. Condolences to you all

  2. Wanted to extend our sympathy to all the family. Marjorie was our wonderful neighbor when we were growing up and she and Don were great pals with our parents Dave and Verna Haworth. She was always so kind and we loved her. They were an amazing couple! It feels like the end of an era but we know they had a good life. All the best.
Sincerely Laurie (Haworth) Mader and Carole (Haworth) Peteherych
