September 28, 1930 – February 8, 2010
Doug passed away peacefully on Monday, February 8, 2010 at the age of 79 years. He will be dearly missed by all who survive him – Doreen (nee Forscutt) his loving and caring wife of fifty-five years, their two sons Alan (Bev) and Robert (Sue) and grandsons Geoffrey, Graeme, Keith, Kevin and Mitchell. Doug is also survived by his brother, Alan Ralph and his wife Joan as well as nieces Janet (David), Maureen (Clint) and Gail (John).
Doug was born in Winnipeg and moved to Vancouver to attend Mechanical Engineering at UBC. There he met Doreen and married July 3rd 1954. He embarked on a successful career as a Professional Engineer with Imperial Oil involving transfers to various locations in Canada including Sarnia, Toronto, Winnipeg and then to Calgary in 1977. He retired in 1986. Doug and Doreen joined St. James Anglican Church in Calgary in 1977 and have been dedicated parishioners ever since. A devout Christian, Doug performed many pastoral roles at St. James. He was also an avid gardener where he applied his engineering skills to horticulture with sometimes humorous results. Doug and Doreen enjoyed traveling, but mostly treasured time with family in Calgary and Kingston, ON. Nothing gave Doug more pleasure than spending time with his grandchildren and other family members.
