McLELLAN, James (Jim)

March 11, 1920 – July 15, 2012

James (Jim) McLellan passed away in Calgary on Sunday July 15, 2012 at the age of 92 years.

Jim was born on March 11, 1920 in Calgary AB. to Anne Boag and James McLellan. He married Lillian Garfield on October 21, 1950. The Richmond area of Calgary was his home as a child and it’s where he settled after living in Scotland for two years. He enjoyed curling, camping, spending time with his family, his yearly trips to Victoria, and his special Tim Hortons coffee friends. Jim worked at Marshall Wells after high school, and then enlisted in the Canadian Army Postal corp.; he was stationed in Ottawa and Virginia from 1942 to 1946. After the army he worked in the post office at Mewata Armouries. He later did carpentry work for the Department of National Defence at Currie Barracks for 38 years until his retirement at age 65 years.

He is survived by his son Bruce (Nancy Aldoff), his daughter and son-in-law Janet and Eugene Sandahl: his grandchildren, Lindsay, James, Kendal, Neil, and Kyle. Jim is also survived by his brother-in-law Walter Christie, as well as many nieces and nephews including Georgianna McDavid, Mary Hays, Dick Pedlar, Lorraine Mohr and Cathy Studley. He was predeceased by his wife Lillian in 2004 and his sister Anne Christie in 2011.
