    Dear Gord and Family
I had the distinct pleasure of working with and knowing Georgina while working at the now closed Childrens Service Centre in Calgary. I will always cherish her beautiful smile and attitude and will long remember the fun times I had with Gord and Georgina. Being a fellow Saskatchewanian I fondly remember Georginas teasing me about being from Humboldt. May you rest in peace “Georgie” and know that you left a huge impression of your inner beauty with all of us. God Bless.

  6. Glenda Kemp (formerly Wenger) :

    Dear Gord and family:

I was so sorry to see the notice of Georgie’s passing. It has been a long time since I saw you both when we worked together at the Detention Centre. There was something very special about Georgina.. a gentle nature. She was the kind of person you naturally gravitated toward. You knew you were safe with her. I know the kids loved her and the staff did as well. We had some fun and very memorable times working together.

I am certain that Georgie’s passing will leave a large void for many people since I still recall how she touched my life from so many years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May God wrap you in His arms and comfort you as only He can.

    Dear Gordon, Keith and Bryce:

I met Georgina shortly after starting with the COMPASS program back in 1992. What a spark she was. Funny, direct, dynamic, genuine, caring.

She had such a special ability to connect with people. She worked tirelessly to support the families she worked with. She had the art of engaging people. I recall one day at a team meeting we talked about getting a referral to work with a family, the family agreed to a COMPASS referral, and when the family was called to set up a time to meet the family would say “No, we are not interested.” Some of us said that if the family said no, they were just not ready for the service. Georgina said she loved those families and when she heard no, the challenge was on to get them to agree to meet just one time. She said that once these families agreed to meet they turned out to be some of the best families she ever worked with. These families received top notch help, top notice support and counselling that was second to none.

Although, Georgina was talented and had the gift to work with, lets say, complex family situation, her passion was for her family. She always spoke of Keith and Bryce, their accomplishments, their talents and all the wonderful things they were doing.

When she spoke about Gordon she beamed. Georgina admired Gordon, he was her prince. She would talk about all the things he did at the “water treatment plant” his incredible knowledge in that area as well as his many other talents. She was Gordon’s number one cheerleader and that was perfectly clear from listening to her. You both had a very special bond, one that is very is rare.

I left COMPASS 13 years ago, yet Georgina and I maintained contact throughout the years, she always made time for a call or to meet for lunch. She took the time for people and she made them feel special. This was one of her talents.

It is hard to think of this world without Georgina. She will be missed and I am thankful for the opportunity to have known her.

I pray and send you strength as you face the loss of a loving wife and mother.

    Mark and Heidi Reckord

  12. I had the privilege of meeting Georgina when she came into Airdrie Urgent Care in late April\early May. She was a polite and strong woman even when she was not feeling 100%. I thought of Georgina on several occasions in the past couple of weeks and it brought me to tears when I saw her name listed in the Airdrie Echo. My thoughts and prayer go out to all the family members.
