PLANCHE, David Hugh

June 23, 1954 – March 10, 2013

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to the best husband, dad, son, brother, uncle and friend. Dave lived more in his fifty-eight years than most people do in a lifetime. His witty sense of humour was contagious and he loved to laugh and tease ‘The Poor Jean’. “Poor Jean, she never had a chance”. Dave lived for his family, his wife and his girls. His kind heart and generous spirit was always appreciated and will be missed by his family and his many close and long-time friends.

Dave will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife of 33 years Jeannie, daughters Alison and Joey, father Hugh and his wife Sylvia and brothers Don and Bruce.

Also close to his heart were Jeannie’s father Army MacCrimmon (passed in 2010), Dave’s mother-in-law Connie, sister-in-law Cathy and her husband Glen, brother-in-law John and his wife Lisa, nieces Lauren and Megan and nephews Bob and Jason.

Dave was predeceased by his mother Betty Planche in 1993.

A private family service was held on Thursday March 14, 2013. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at Elbow Springs Golf Course (240086 Lott Creek Drive Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in memory of David H. Planche.

I was so sad to hear of Dave’s passing. He played such a big part in so many lives – his sense of humour, dry wit and ability to see the lighter side was such a blessing to many.

  7. Dear Jeannie,

So sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. Been thinking about you and the girls all week. Many, many blessings and prayers for all of you. Our university years have been front and centre in my mind this week and Dave’s infamous words keep rolling through my head…”there’ll be no teen angel tonight”. How we laughed at that! Peace and love…..Rae

  8. Jeannie, I was sad to read of Dave’s passing.
My wife Shirley passed away in January 2012 after a 9 year battle with cancer. Some of our families best vacations were at Pend Orielle where we met you and Dave. I still live in Brooks, both girls are in Calgary.
    Thinking of you and family.

  16. David and Cathy Erickson :

    Dear Jeannie,
We were so very sorry to hear that Dave passed away. He was so young. We always had fond memories of all of us living on the same street. You folks were always so much fun and it was very evident the devotion you had for each other. We are very sad for your daughters also to lose their Dad. I think your daughters were just that much younger than our daughters and Kelly maybe even babysat for you if memory serves me well. You are in our thoughts and we are just so very sorry for all of you. I see Dave’s father’s name in the obituary also, and how sad for him to lose his son. In your own time, if you would like to get together, I would really like to reconnect. Thinking of you and your family and sending our heartfelt sympathy.
    Sincerely, David and Cathy Erickson
