MCKILLOP, John Charles

October 9, 1943 – October 27, 2012

John McKillop of Calgary passed away on October 27, 2012 at the age of 69 years.

John was born in Olds, AB, grew up in Sundre and moved to Irricana. He lived and worked on the farm with his parents Sarah and Donald McKillop. Sarah immigrated from Ireland and Donald from Scotland. John worked as a dairy delivery driver for Palm Dairies then for Foothills Creamery. He took a welding course at SAIT. He loved to camp which we as a family did every summer. He had a passion for cars and no matter that he had daughters, each year we all went to the world of wheels. He loved to do wood work projects and was always working on something in the garage. If he wasn’t working on a wood project, he was tinkering with the cars. He gave back to the community by volunteering on a crisis line and various activities in his apartment complex.

John is survived by his daughters, Sheila McKillop and Debra McKillop; and grandson Jeffrey McKillop. He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Sarah McKillop.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through

In living memory of John McKillop, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.

  2. I felt very sad to read of the passing of my old friend John from high school days at Kathyrn. Though we didn’t keep touch through the years I have thought about him often and wondered how he was doing. My sympathies go out to his family.
