McIVOR, David “Dave” John

McIVOR, David “Dave” John
February 26, 1954 – November 8, 2012

It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of a kind and gentle spirit our beloved Dave. He faced his brief battle with cancer with Courage and Dignity and was an inspiration to all who knew this brave man.
Dave’s greatest treasure that he cherished and loved was his soul mate, his true love his beautiful wife Jitka. Dave met his bride to be while living in Cranbrook, B.C. and for the next ten years their love for each other grew and on October 3, 1987 in Calgary, AB Dave married his cherished treasure.
Dave’s insatiable love of life and music, contagious smile that would light up any room, fabulous sense of humour, his enthusiasm for adventure in the great outdoors and his never ending multitude of talents inspired many people throughout his life. He taught us to imagine, to dream, to tell stories, to be good natured and gentle with others.
Greatly respected and widely admired by his peers the value of all friendships formed were very important and highly maintained. Dave touched the lives of all he met in many different ways and we are privileged to have been part of this remarkable man’s journey.

“To the world, Dave was one; but to his family and friends, Dave meant the world. He is loved beyond measure and will be missed beyond tears.”

Left to mourn this huge loss is the love of Dave’s life his forever soul mate Jitka; his best friend and constant companion Mystic; his son Jon; mother in-law Anna; brother in-law Radek; sister in-law Zdena; brother and sister in-law Irene and Denny; Nephews Jason, Johnny and Daylon; Neice Kaylee as well numerous other family and friends.

Dave was predeceased by his father David McIvor of Manitoba and his mother Laurette McIvor of Alberta also numerous other family members.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Calgary Humane Society, 4455-110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Road. Condolence Messages

  1. Leon & Peggy Kemp :

There is no words that can express how sorry we are to hear this sad news. We still can’t believe that it really happened. Dave was a great neighbour – ever ready with a smile and a greeting and ready to lend a hand when he knew it was needed. He and Jitka were best friends as well as husband and wife, and enjoyed each other’s company. Jitka, we wish you strength to overcome these darkest of days. Dave was respected by more people than you will likely ever know. The world needs more like him.
