  10. It is with fondness and humour that I remember my interactions with Mickey over the years at TD bank. I always enjoyed being at her table during events and her wisdom on the patio or outside while we had our cigarettes. While I was struggling with my teenagers’ antics, she would console me with her motherly reflections and wisdom – “I always thought it was best not to know everything they are doing” she would advise. Her thoughts and ideas have stayed with me for many years and I have taken the liberty of passing them on to others. Safe journey Mickey!

  16. Dear Merv, Sandy and Duncan,
Dad, Karen and I were very sad to hear about the loss of Mickey. Having lost our mom this past April,we know how heavy this loss is and how it impacts everything we say and do. Losing one’s mother is like losing the string that attached our mittens to our coats, it was always there, but now there is a sense of loss, but we do realize that we can still wear the mitts, there is just no longer that “thing” that kept the mitts close and secure. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time, grieve freely, let your love for Micky come with your tears, and in time the good memories will return and you will realize she is still there with you.

ps.. Dad would like to send a formal card but has misplaced his address book since we moved him into a place with Karens son Korey. As he has beed diagnosed with moderate Alzheimers, he has forgotten alot of things however his long term memory is great. If we could get Merv’s address, we would like to send a card your way.
    Take care and God bless.

    Merv and Family
Julie and I were so saddened to hear that Mickey had passed away. All of us who have known and cared for her will most definitely be at a loss without her. One of the best things about Mickey – something that stands out in our minds – was her ability to put you at your ease. I believe this was because she was always so utterly herself….you couldn’t help but feel comfortable and I guess in a way she gave you permission to be yourself as well. In a word, Mickey was thoroughly unpretentious…what a quallity! She might not have known this about herself, but we found her to be someone who always elicited a chuckle from us. Just thinking about her in that way makes us smile at this very minute. And need we say that she was a good cook and a fabulous gardener. We mention all of these qualities of Mickey’s because she had such a positive impact on us.

  20. Through this busy and chilly time of year I somehow had thoughts of when we were kids sitting on the steps licking the big bowl of left over icing your Mom would always give us to share and there was always plenty to share. Its funny how the people and the little precious memories can live with us so long and shape who we are today. Sandy and Duncan I think we had a great fun childhood, kids today will never play as hard into the night as we played kick the can, made huge snow forts, Monopoly in Roddys garage for days, and yes there was who wants to fight Bonanza. Your Mom never ever once got mad at us she was always smiling even when we trashed your backyard.Thinking of all of your family at this difficult time, as they say life goes on but it will never be the same. And to you Mickey if you are reading along just wanted you to know even after 40 years of trying you still made the best icing ever!
