Matthew “Matt” Nicholas McGinnis beloved husband of Tanya of Okotoks, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the young age of 49 years.
Matt was born to Clive and Marjorie Parke in Toronto, ON. He became the adopted son of John McGinnis when he married Marjorie in 1970. John’s oil industry career found the family variously located in Toronto, New York, Calgary, and Saudi Arabia. Matt eventually made Alberta his permanent home. He was married to Leah Cameron, who is Connor’s mother, from 1994 to 1998. His second marriage was to Tanya McCorry on December 2, 2003, celebrated in Mexico, and they have since lived mainly in Okotoks. Matt has worked several years with the Child Services branch of the Alberta Government. He has been a wonderful son, husband, father, friend, and great human being with compassion, honesty and good humour. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Besides his loving wife Tanya, he is survived by a son Connor (17 years) and twin daughters Isibeal and Rowyn (5 years). He was predeceased by his sister Adrienne (1960-1990).
