Christine and Family, we offer our heartfelt condolences. I am so thankful that your family came to the Kelly wedding anniversary. That reunion is now so very special. As a result Lorne and Shaun got some older cousins Facebook compatible, and we have had more communication in the past two years, than in my entire lifetime. Shaun, you are now the senior McGee male in your family. We know you will handle that responsibility well.

I am sorry for your loss…Over the years we had lost touch but Lorne had “requested to be a friend” on facebook last week while I was on vacation in Mexico. The shock of hearing of Lorne’s passing has begun to give way to memories of times we spent as teenagers and young adults . Our love of agriculture made us quick friends in High School and we were competed in 4H traveled with the band and went on to get our college education in Kemptville On . Along the way we got into a little mischief but stayed away from any serious trouble . I remember Lorne most for having a heavy foot when driving and thinking on more than one time that jumping might be safer than staying with the ride to the end . I have concluded that when he was at the home on the farm that you were either clawing your way up a hill or riding the brakes down the other side . Flat land just made him want to let her go . When Lorne met Christine he quickly knew he had found the love of his life and after their wedding on an extremely hot summer day they set out on their lifes journey . Moving and family , and a progressing career led them to Calgary and although we were a great distance apart Lorne always made the effort to stay in touch . I am a believer that your life should be measured by your relationship with family and how you touch other people along the way and Lorne was a success at both .
My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time . Take care .

  43. I didn’t get a chance to meet Lorne’s family. However, I wanted to offer you my condolences for the loss of a fine man. I had the opportunity to work with Lorne when I was employed by UFA Co-operative Ltd and Lorne and I launched the FCC crop input lending program there. I learned a lot from Lorne about the program, lending in general, and how to work hard, treat people with respect and, very professionally, get things done. Lorne was always prepared, a step ahead and was pro-active with UFA and their customers. I don’t think many UFA people understand the extent Lorne contributed to the success of that program. In doing so, he helped many UFA farmer members improve their businesses, and feed the world.

I hope you, his family, understand that Lorne took great pride in doing his work, and he will be missed by all who had a chance to work closely with him.

We want to pass along our sincere sympathies to all of you at this difficult time. We have many fond memories of [cousin] Lorne, particularly at those family gatherings over the years, and always enjoyed catching up on the news with him. It was great to see such a strong Alberta contingent at Jack and Rosella’s anniversary – we had a wonderful visit with all of you that night (not to mention the “cousins” photo op). Even though it was an anniversary celebration, the evening definitely had strong family reunion undertones which we value as well. Again, our condolences to all of you and please try to focus on all the good times and memories.

    The McGee Family,
My heartfelt condolences to you all.

Lorne and I grew up on nearby farms, went to high school together and were in 4H with my Dad as our calf club leader. I always knew the hill on top of which Lorne grew up as McGee’s Hill and keep calling it that to this day. We shared many a white knuckle trip on the school bus up and down that hill too.

I was in awe of his ablity to play the trumpet in the CDHS Band.

Lorne loved 4H and all things farming… joining Farm Credit and having a great career.
Although being out west, I always keep up with the goings on through Leona.

Lorne will be missed, but never forgotten.
