Ivan William (Snake) McDougall, beloved husband of Shelley, passed away in Calgary at the age of 38 years.
Ivan was born in Calgary at the General Hospital and raised in Siksika before moving to Calgary. In his younger years, he was active in Pow Wow dancing. He was very proud of his heritage and had strong Catholic beliefs. Ivan loved to watch hockey and baseball, and enjoyed spending time fishing with his Uncle Sam. Anyone who saw Ivan knew Shelley wouldn’t be far behind. He was also a talented artist, and especially enjoyed painting pictures of traditional Native scenes. Ivan truly loved his family, and was very proud, patient and loving of his four daughters. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his smile and laughter, and always joking and teasing with his friends in Calgary.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Shelley, and his four daughters, Tasha, Tanis, Brenda, and Serenity, all of Calgary. He also leaves to mourn two brothers Kevin McDougall and Michael Spring Chief; two sisters, Elaine Spring Chief and Shannon Ryder; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; five uncles Floyd, Errol (Anne), Harley (Delia), Sam (Alexis), and Kelly (Jackie); five aunties Joan (Don), Joyce (who he called “Mom”) and Jack, and Jason Spring Chief (who he thought of as a brother), and his special friend Jack Yellow Horse, Annette (Ryan), Shirley, and Ann-Marie (Blair); great-great-aunts Christine, Clarissa, and Annie; great-great-uncles Roy and Phillip, as well as the Running Rabbit, McMaster, and Duck Chief families. Ivan was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Brenda, who he was very close to and has gone to join them in Heaven; grandparents John and Elizabeth; auntie Delphine; and cousin Keith.
