  4. Gary and Sara Moore :

Elsie Mcdonald was an extraordinary woman. It was always a treat to see her, with that sparkle in her eyes and her beautiful smile.
Her positive views on life and her “get out and have fun” attitude made her a delight to talk to. Who doesn’t admire a woman who lived her life on her own terms…and enjoyed her rum and cokes and her trademark long smokes? She had a great long life and yet it is sad to lose her. We are so sorry that we can’t be with Owen and Wendy and the family to celebrate her life but we will raise a glass to send her off to her next great adventure.

    Dear Wendy and family:

How lucky we are to have had your Mum in our lives for so long. What a life she lead. I know this will be a difficult transition for the ones left behind, but know she is free and entertaining the angels. She was lucky to have all of you taking such wonderful care. Cheers to Nana and love to you all.

    Dearest Wendy and family
Our deepest condolences to you and your family. I can’t thank you enough for letting us be a part of your dear Mom’s life…she was a “spitfire”, but one to look up to and admire… you “All” have so many wonderful memories to cherish and keep close in your hearts and know that she loved each and every one of you unconditionally. She was so very proud of her family. You were so lucky to have her for so long. We truly missed her after her move, but knew it was for the best… now she is with your dad and is an angel watching over all of you… raise your glasses and give her that 5 o’clock toast! Love and Prayers, Karen, Larry and Family

  7. Mike and Mary McCurrie :

It seemed like yesterday that we were celebrating Elsie’s 100 birthday. Such a rare milestone, and now we will be honoring Elsie’s Celebration of Life; so bittersweet. We would get a kick out of Graham, Wendy’s dad calling Elsie, Queenie. It would make us smile but she was a true matriarch and so full of kindness and fun. Our families shared so many Christmas’ and Thanksgivings together and we will always hold these memories dear. 1914 – 2015. That little hyphen, how can such a little hyphen encompass the events of Elsie’s lifetime? Elsie, you will be truly missed by all and although Wendy’s heart is breaking and that of Owen’s, Krisjan’s, Britney’s and the rest of your clan, it will heal. Heaven has waited a long time for you, dear Elsie, and your time has come. You kept telling Wendy you, “just wanted to sleep” and so you shall dear friend. Blessed dreams and when you wake you will be with your Graham again.

    Mary, Mike, Danielle and Leianne

  8. Donna Bradley and Wayne Fingas :

Our hearts were grabbed when we read the headline, and the vision of your Mom running into your Dad’s arms came to me. Elsie was truly remarkable and she sure showed us how to live long and well! I’ll puff to that…(if you’ll lend me a smoke). We look forward to celebrating Elsie’s life. Our deepest condolences, Wayne and Donna

  9. Arlene Zettler :

    Wendy, Owen and family,

So sorry for your loss – she was one amazing gal! I am also sorry that I lost touch with her – have thought about her many times and wondered where she was until I saw her obituary in the Winnipeg Free Press. I knew Elsie through our bridge group – for a number of years, I drove her to our Saturday night bridge – until we lost our space and the group was forced to disband. She was a wonderful person and a great addition to our bridge group. She was such an upbeat person, full of fun and a true joy to be around. She always spoke so lovingly of all her family members – you were her world and she so looked forward to and treasured the visits and time spent together.

    My deepest sympathy,
    Arlene Zettler
