McDONALD, Elizabeth Lillian (nee Heeney)

Bette McDonald passed away peacefully on Monday, August 13, 2012 at her home in Calgary at the age of 87.

She was blessed to spend 59 years with the love of her life Dan, who passed away in 2010. As a mother and grandmother she was always there with love affection, wisdom and unending support. Bette was a woman of great personal strength, always had a kind word for whomever she met and would always remind us of the importance of family. For that, we were truly blessed. She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Nancy Laird, and her husband Scott, and grandchildren Spencer, Jaime and Geordie, affectionately their “Nana”. Bette was the youngest in a family of four children and is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was born in Toronto and spent time in Montreal before returning to Toronto where she worked for many years with ManuLife. She and Dan moved to Calgary in 1995. She would want to thank Tammy Jenkins for her support and companionship as well as the gentlemen at the concierge desk at The Grandview.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W.) on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through

In living memory of Elizabeth McDonald a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200

Condolence Messages

  1. I have been away the last two weeks and received your message about your dear Mom on Sunday. I am so sorry but I have learned that a loved one is never gone. Every special memory truly does live on. Everything you shared is still there. Betty was such a special friend to Gary and I when we were all at Cedars and continued to be whenever we got together. I loved her. My whole heart reaches out to you, my thoughts are with you, and I pray that you’ll find a lasting and loving comfort in the blessing of every cherished memory.
    My Heartfelt Sympathy
