My sister and I remember your mom warmly from the many many days we spent at the Beverly with our mother Sheela – who passed away 2 and a half years ago. When we read that Elaine had passed away, it brought back memories of our time spent with our mom and all the wonderful souls who inhabited the memory ward. Even though they were no longer the people we knew, they never lost their essence. We could see that your mom had a beautiful heart – and lovely singing voice 🙂 We are sorry for your loss. May Elaine rest in peace.

  3. Dear McDonald Family,

Please receive my deeply felt condolences on the passing of your dear mother, Elaine. I knew her during our time at the University of Calgary Ballroom Dance Club in the 1980-90’s. A vivacious and passionate personality she was, who created excitement and eagerness among friends in the dance club. We often were partners as teaching assistants. Startlingly elegant, Elaine’s fashionable contrast was admired and appreciated by the largely casually attired members of the university club.

Elaine helped me improve dancing on soles as she drew on her experience skating on rollers. As dance partners we entered several competitions together. We practiced and perfected (well, tried to) our performance and challenged the ordinary with uncommon styling. Once we were disqualified in a mambo heat when the judge ruled we hit the ‘one’ instead of the ‘two’. Ah, but we were young! We did well and we learned and enjoyed the sport.

I will always remember what a beautiful lady she was.

    With condolences, Tibor Kaldor, Calgary.

    For the McDonald Family.
We are saddened to hear of Elaine’s passing. She was one of our favourite members of the University ‘s Dance Club and we considered her a friend.. She was always smiling and so helpful and we shared many laughs with her. We admired her dancing talent and her ability to dance the Latin numbers with such pizzazz! We looked forward to seeing her each week and will remember her joy and enthusiasm for life. Happy Memories for all who knew her.
