Jim passed away peacefully on March 12, 2013 at the Newport Harbour Care Centre, where he was a resident for the past 7 years.
He was born in Calgary, Alberta and attended St. Joseph’s as well as St. Mary’s Boys School’s. He played football, hockey, and won many trophies and medals in the sport of boxing. Jim also trained the Calgary Police Service in boxing. Jim taught at the Henderson Business School, was a court reporter, worked in the business field and even drove a taxi cab. But his love of life was definitely flying.
Jim is survived by his sisters Maureen Bowman, Sheila Holliston (Jack), Cathy Pamer and Sharon Heffernan, also brothers Terry McCusker (Audrey), Brian McCusker (Kathy), Larry McCusker (Baya), and sister-in-law Jeanne McCusker. Jim will also be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Mary and James, sisters Moira and Colleen McCusker, brother Pat McCusker and brothers-in-law John Pamer and Ralph Bowman.
The family wishes to thank Patty, Shilna, Diane and Valma, all LPN’s. Also the nursing and physio staff at Newport for all of their dedication and compassionate care and also for their love for Jim.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 8:30p.m.
Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Corner of 4th Street and Northmount Drive N.W.) on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 10:30a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made in Jim’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary “Dementia Research” (201-222-58 Avenue, Calgary, AB, T2H 2S2)
