McAloon, Henry Joseph Alban

Henry Joseph McAloon, beloved husband of Germaine of Airdrie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2005 at the age of 81 years.

Henry was born on February 15, 1924 in Stanley, NB. He received his education in Stanley. Henry married Germaine on July 12, 1950. He attended the Maritime Forest Ranger School following service with R.C.A.F. from 1943 – 1946 and worked as a Forest Ranger for forty years, retiring in 1982. Henry enjoyed hunting and fishing the lakes and streams in New Brunswick as well as golfing, achieving two holes in one. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which brought Henry and Germaine to Airdrie in 2002. He was gifted with a lovely voice and sang in the church choir at St. Patrick’s Church in Stanley, NB for many years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and Royal Canadian Legion in New Brunswick and Airdrie. Henry enjoyed coming to live in Airdrie, however, to him New Brunswick was always home.

Besides his loving wife Germaine, Henry is also survived by his children, Colleen McAloon of High Prairie, AB, Karen McAloon of Airdrie, AB, Wendy and David Astle of Chestermere, AB, Catherine McAloon of Edmonton, AB, and Jeffrey and Rosanne McAloon of Pollockville, AB; eight grandchildren, Melodie Astle, Lindsay Astle, Erica Paxman, Ryan McAloon, Christopher McAloon, Audrey Astle, Morgan McAloon, and Justin McAloon; and seven great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law John and Judy McAloon of Fredericton, NB. Henry was predeceased by his parents John and Nora; two brothers, Clarence and Arthur; and his sister Carolyn.
