MAYER – Anton John (Tony)

July 2, 1936 – July 29, 2009

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Tony Mayer after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Tony was born in Ajkarendek, Hungary on July 2, 1936. Tony was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 45 years, and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 285. He was a master electrician and a jack of all trades.

Tony is the loving husband of 51 years to Adeline, father to Terry (Murray Strang), Joe (Chris Graff) and Tony Mayer; amazing grandfather to Amy, Holly, Courtney, Josh, Tricia and Tyler….The Best Grandpa Ever! Brother of Annie (John Kuchera), Theresa (Odegnal) and Julius “Whitey” (Carol Tuss). He was predeceased by his father Josef, his mother Anna and step-father John Tuss. To all who knew and loved Tony, there is an enormous void in our lives.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Tony Mayer’s Legacy may be made directly to Alberta Cancer Foundation c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre (1331 – 29 Street NW Calgary, Alberta T2N 4N2 ). The family would like to extend their utmost thanks to everyone of Unit 84 at the Rocky View Hospital, and all the wonderful people at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre for their amazing care.
