Roy passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the age of 89 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis and its complications.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years Marlene and daughter Roanne. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Florence; his brothers Bob, Sid and Stan; and sister Kathleen. He is survived by his sister Elsie of Edmonton and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy was born in Lethbridge and moved to Calgary in 1938. He was enrolled with the RCAF as a teletype operator and was stationed on the West coast from 1943 – 1945. After discharge from the military, he then worked for forty-three years at James Richardson and Sons as a communications manager until his retirement in 1983. Roy was an avid gardener and reader, and spent many hours enjoying his computer and tablet. He will always be remembered for his keen wit and knowledge.
A private inurnment will be held in the “Field of Honour” at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of your choice.
