June 17, 1919 – August 3, 2012
Sadie Alexandra Mastalish of Calgary passed away peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the age of 93.
The second youngest of ten siblings, Sadie was born in Smoky Lake, Alberta. Sadie excelled in everything she did. She was a terrific cook, a phenomenal gardener, and a self-taught master needlewoman. She enjoyed her last years at Trinity Lodge in Calgary, where she was known as the jigsaw puzzle queen. Sadie will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, and her lovely smile.
Sadie will be missed by many, especially by her daughter and son-in-law Sylvia and David Spencer; her granddaughters, Tanya, Lara (Helmer), Irena and Karina; and her great-granddaughter Alexandra Helmer. She was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters, her beloved daughter Margaret Rose, and by the love of her life Stanley Alexander.
In lieu of a memorial ceremony, Sadie suggests that you brew yourself a lovely cup of tea, put your feet up, and enjoy a recording of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. We would like to thank Rockyview Hospital Unit 71 for their excellent care, and the Southwood Hospice, whose dedicated staff cared for Sadie so well and so lovingly during her last month.
