MARQUIS, Sharon Marie

November 10, 1953 – Saskatoon, SK
June 27, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Sharon (Egler) Marquis of Calgary passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 27, 2014 after a brave and noble battle with cancer.

Sheri will forever be missed by her beloved children Trevor (Amy) and Curtis (Hayley). She was not only a proud and devoted mother, but also an adored and cherished sister to her four siblings Judy, Dale, Larry, and Dana. Together, with their families, they are deeply saddened by her early departure in life. Her precious canine children, Dexter and Winston still carry hope that someday she will return home. She will forever be in their hearts and they will forever be her companions.

Sheri was loved by so many and touched the lives of immeasurable souls. Her unprecedented generosity, genuine humility, eccentric demeanor and sassy personality were just some of the limitless attributes that drew in those around her. By simply being her fun loving and smiling self, she captivated admiration and stole the hearts of countless life long friends and connections. It is because of these dear individuals, who loved her as a sister, she was so successful during her journey in discovering God’s plan for her. Thank you especially to Janet, Sandi, Linda and Val for your dedication and assistance in Sheri’s time of need.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Sheri’s honour at Glamorgan Church (4715 45 St. SW) on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Please join us in our tribute to our adoring mother, loving sister, wonderful aunt and loyal friend.

As per Sheri’s wishes, it is respectfully requested that donations be made to the Calgary Humane Society (4455 110th Ave. SE), telephone 403-723-6000, or a similar animal organization/charity. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Sheri Marquis, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

Condolence Messages

  1. Pat and Donna Litzenberger :

Our condolences to Trevor and Curtis and family.
I was lucky enough to have worked with Sheri at the Saskatoon Superstore in the mid 80’s. She was my Cosmetics Dept Manager and from there moved on to Calgary H.O. Recently I spoke with her to tell her of an approaching trip to the mountains which included a stop in Calgary and a catch-up meeting with Sheri. So sorry we couldn’t get together. We will talk again Sheri when we join you in Heaven one day. For now, keep sharing your love and smiles with everyone. Love from Pat and Donna Litzenberger.

Dear Trevor, Curtis and Family of Sheri,
Your mother, sister was an extraordinary woman with a smile that could light a room in an instant. We worked together for Bonne Bell selling cosmetics, travelling and at times complaining 🙂 but such is the nature of work in cosmetics. I hope that time will quickly lessen the pain you feel today so the days ahead will become easier. With sincere sympathy. Susan Kisilevich.

  5. Sandy MacPherson :

It was my honour and privilege to call the beautiful soul, known as Sheri Marquis, my friend. We first met as work colleagues but I, along with so many others, soon was under Sheri’s wonderful spell and fell in love with her magnetic personality, undying kindness, and indomitable spirit. The world will be a lesser place without her but also a better place because she was here and shared herself with us. I know of no one who was ever loved by so many – and that says everything about her.
My condolences go to her beloved sons, siblings, and, of course, her two beloved canines, Dexter and Winston. My love and gratitude also goes to the amazing Janet Bec and the other friends who looked after her in these past few difficult months.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend her service as I will be away on vacation but on July 12 I will be saying a special prayer to this wonderful girl and to all of you who are there to celebrate her amazing time on this earth. Love to all. Sandy.

So sad to hear of Sheri’s passing. I worked with her at Revlon for many years and she was always a wonderful, caring and supportive friend. Sheri always knew just what to say to brighten your spirits and that smile of hers was legendary! She always spoke so lovingly of her sons and we often shared a laugh about the antics of her pets. Trevor, Curtis, Amy and Haley,
Your mother was a beautiful person inside and out. She was the nicest person I ever had the good fortune to meet and I feel blessed to have had her as my dear friend for 30 years. She loved you all so very much and her pride in you all beamed from her face every time she spoke of you. She was so very proud of you all and with good reason. She was a wonderful friend and mother and will be missed very very much. Sheri is still here and watching over you all. She told me at Easter that she knew she would be able to watch over you and see her grandchildren grow. Nothing is ever lost or can be lost when love is there and your mother was full of love for everyone.
Her great love was returned to her by all of her wonderful friends and family and is a clear measure of how special and exceptional she was on earth. She is an Angel now. I love you all. Be happy now and continue to make her proud.

  27. Debbie Botham :

To all of Sheri’s Family and Friends,
I would like to share this poem with you in memory of a very special person who touched so many people.

Just before our Mom passed on, my sister asked Mom to let us know she was OK if at all possible when she crossed over.
With in minutes after Mom’s passing the phone rang and and my sister’s friend wanted my sister’s opinion about a children’s book she had just written – not knowing that Mom had just passed on.

    You Are Never Alone

If you are reading this book, someone you love has just departed.
How death comes calling, we do not know, except when it is our time to go.
Such beautiful voices, familiar to me.
Met by angels, carried on their wings, back home to where the spirit begins.

Although you heart aches, way deep inside.
Your loved one is happy. “It was their time.”
The body was weary, the spirit strong.
Went on to heaven. Where it belongs.

Heaven is a place within your heart. You and your loved ones are never far apart.
Your loved ones hear all that you say.
And says “Please” don’t be sad. I’m really, really OK.

I know how much you’ve loved me. I feel it in my heart.
I know how much you miss me. I hear this in your heart.
Remember this, my dear. We can never be apart.

Speak to me as if I was sitting in the room with you.
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Silence the noises within your head.
You will hear all the answers you need to know. For deep inside you must go.

Listen to your heart. This is where I reside.
    I love you very much.
