December 6, 2014 – Banff, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce that Vera, our beloved dear Mother and Sister, was called home by our Creator on December 6, 2014 at the age of 76 years after a lengthy illness.

Our mother was a strong, courageous and fearless woman. She loved the traditional way of life and she loved being outdoors. She loved music and singing gospel songs; it was her passion. Vera was a very proud Banff Indian Days Queen from 1954 – 1955 and she spoke fondly of it often. She accomplished and persevered in many things in her life, including being trained as a nurse and later being and AADAC councillor.

She is survived by her children, Melvandra, Geraldine (Larry), Charles (Bernadine), Flora, Tracy, Myrtis (Tia) Mark; 19 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brothers, David (Yvonne) Poucette and Eldon (Jackie); sisters, Doreen, Norma, Doris and Debbie Poucette; Elder cousins J.R. Twoyoungmen, Maisie Poucette, Wilfred Fox; numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and also the Poucette, Twoyoungmen, Benjamin, Fox, Crawler, Hunter, Kootenay, Baptiste and Simeon families. She was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Flora Poucette and her 2 grandsons Fergus and Trayson Mark; cousin Maryann Fox, Eva, Grace, and Murray Hunter; nephews Darren, Randon, Terry Poucette; sister in law Reba Baptiste; and all other family and friends that have gone on before her. We apologize if we have missed anyone. Thank You to St. Martha’s long term care in Banff, AB.
