Ann Marie Marasco-O’Gorman of Calgary, AB passed away at the Southwood Hospice of pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, June 9, 2009.
She started her vibrant life in Fernie, BC on October 4, 1955. Her proud parents Assunta and Luigi Marasco, were delighted by their first daughter and equally pleased with her younger sister Polyana. Ann Marie always strived to become educated and graduated at the top of her high school class in Fernie. After moving to Calgary, she enrolled in the Mount Royal College Business Administration program where she again excelled in her studies. Her favourite jobs were with Sunkist as a produce buyer and S & C Electric as an office manager. In 1989 she married Paul O’Gorman and joined him in moving to Drayton Valley. She increased her education with an accounting certificate and began working for Scotia Bank as a mortgage officer. Ann Marie and Paul then returned to Calgary. Ann Marie gave birth to their son Trevor in 1992. She re-entered the work force after training for an IT Help Desk position, a role she cherished. Throughout her career it was her love of working with people that helped her stand out as an employee and co-worker. She made new friends constantly and kept those friendships alive. One of her favourite activities was shopping for anything coloured pink. She was a member of Take Off Pounds Sensibly for many years.
Ann Marie is survived by her husband Paul and their son Trevor; mother Assunta; sister Polyana Natale; brother in-law Paul, and their children Sebastian and Noelle, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
