It is with great sorrow and regret that we announce the passing of our mother Rose Alma Many Shots at the age of 93 years.
Rose Alma was born on April 1, 1920 to Eagle Rib (Stamixonistaw) and Akaenikskimake on the Blackfoot Reserve and passed on Friday June 28, 2013.
Left to mourn this great loss are her children; Patricia, Christina, Elizabeth (Dave), Georgina, Melvina (Charles), Angeline (Henry), Virginia, Duane (Gabe), Regina (Wesley), Eldon, Marcella (Errol), Eve Yellow Old Woman, Christine, Roy and Annie, thirty-two grandchildren, fifty-one great grandchildren, twenty-seven great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews Mary, Christine, Catherine, Lavina, Matthew, Larry and Raleigh and many, many relatives and friends in and around Treaty 7.
Mom was predeceased by her first husband John Yellow Sun; second husband George Many Shots Sr; her children, Delphine, Winston, Floyd, Betty, Lillian; grandchildren Clifton, Lindsay, Vivian, Kimberley, Zennon and Dustin.
As a child, Rose Alma was raised up in the Blackfoot traditional way of life and spent some years in the St. Joseph’s Residential School in Cluny. Influenced both by Blackfoot ways of life and Western Catholicism, Rose Alma led a spiritual life and believed in the power of prayer. Although Rose Alma experienced hardships in her life, she honoured and practiced generosity and compassion. She was a great teacher.
We take great comfort in knowing that she will not take this journey alone. She is guided into the spirit world by her two grandsons; Bruce Calf Robe who will lead (has lead) the way and Morris Many Bears will gently take her by the hand and all will cross over into the spirit world to reunite with loved ones.
