March 3, 1942 – Gleichen, Alberta
May 11, 2017 – Strathmore, Alberta

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, cousin and friend. Levi was born on March 3, 1942 at the Blackfoot Hospital, Siksika Nation, and passed away on May 11, 2017 with his family by his side at the Strathmore Hospital. He was 75 years old at the time of his passing.

Levi was born and raised on the west end of the Siksika Nation, where he farmed for over 60 years. He had served for 17 years as a Siksika Band Councillor, as well as a member of the SRDL board and Siksika Police Commission. As a result of his pride and dedication to serving the Siksika Nation, he had developed a strong understanding and knowledge of the traditional, political and social issues of the Nation. He was a kind, big-hearted and generous man who was a friend to everyone he met. He enjoyed the time he spent with family, whether it was a road trip with his wife and children, or a family BBQ on the farm.

Levi was the Patriarch of the Many Heads family, and he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gail; his children Darren (Ida), Darrell, Alfred (Melvina), Anne and Levi Jr. (Tammy); his grandchildren, Sheena, Terrie, Waddell, Mackenzie, Angelica, Alexander, Jewel, Darris, Emmitt and Liam; great-grandchildren, Latryll, LaKierra, LaKia, Meela, and Jayceon. He is also survived by his brother Matthew (Carol) Many Heads; his sisters, Elizabeth (Norman) Running Rabbit and Muriel Kirby; and many nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention.

Levi was predeceased by his parents William & Nancy Many Heads; his brothers Douglas, Jasper, Alfred, Roy and Richard; his sisters Hazel-Jane, Ina-Rose and Mabel; his nephew Eric; his brother-in-law Dan Kirby; father/mother-in-law Alexander & Annie Black Kettle; and sister-in-law Bertha Girolami.

We would like to acknowledge extended relatives from the Cuthand, Wadsworth, Tailfeathers, McMaster, Breaker, Wolfleg, ThreeSuns, Ayoungman, BigTobbacco, WolfChild, TwoHorns, ManyGuns, Solway, RedGun, BlackKettle, and CraneBear families. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

The family would like to thank Dr. J Fanning and the Nursing staff at the Strathmore Hospital and the Siksika Home Care staff for all your kind support and care.

Wake Services will be held at Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB) on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.

Thank you Levi for the mentorship that you provided to me when I sat right next to you when I had the privilege of serving our Nation alongside you as a Band Councillor back in 1981. Your wisdom and guidance was constant and I will be forever grateful for this. You are a true leader in every sense of the word and I have been blessed by your guidance. May your family, friends and loved ones take comfort in knowing that you are now at peace. God Bless.
