Our dear and cherished Michael passed away suddenly and tragically on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the age of 20 years. Michael was born on March 23, 1988 in Calgary, AB. Michael played in the WHL for four years as a goalie for both the Kamloops Blazers and the Lethbridge Hurricanes. He recently became a coach for aspiring goalies with the same dream and aspirations that he had. Even though he is no longer with us, we have a sense of peace and happiness knowing that his drive and his passion will live on through his students. His smile, his warmth and his presence will surely be missed. Not having him in our lives has left a giant hole that cannot be filled. The world has lost an amazing person and we cannot express how much we loved our “Mani”. Michael is survived by his loving parents, Terri and Bob; his best friend and brother Matthew; his paternal grandparents, Regina and Renato Maniago; his maternal grandparents, Cliff and Yvonne Brown; as well as countless numbers of extended family and friends. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Drive S.E.) on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Michael Maniago Trust Fund, at any Royal Bank across Canada (Payable to: Michael Maniago in Trust for Michael Maniago Trust Fund). In Michael’s giving and lasting memory, this trust fund has been created to financially assist future, young aspiring hockey players so that they may have the same opportunity that Michael had. In living memory of Michael Maniago, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
