Gunter Mangold, beloved husband of Helga, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the age of 75 years.
Gunter was born in Germany and in 1957 immigrated to Canada. Once settled Gunter brought his bride Helga over and together they would have just celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on August 3rd. For over thirty-five years Gunter worked for the CPR Alyth Diesel Shop. He was a man who loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, reading, and fixing things. Gunter cherished time spent with his grandchildren. His family and many friends were important to him and he will also be remembered as a special man. Gunter’s family asks that you remember him with happiness and warm thoughts.
Besides his beloved wife Helga, Gunter is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Jasmine and Bruce Clarke; son Michael and his partner Devan; his precious grandchildren Patrick and Rachel; and by auntie Anne.
To honour Gunter’s wishes there will no formal funeral service. A celebration of Gunter’s life will be held at a later date at the family residence. Also next year a celebration will be held at Fritz and Linda’s for his Radio Hertz and friends. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. We would also like to thank all of the special nurses on unit 46 and 73 that treated Karl “Gunter” with love and kindness.
