Lola Malmberg (nee Lamb) of Calgary passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at the age of 85 years.
Lola was born on July 30, 1921 at the family farm in Woolford, AB. She was the sixth of the seven children of Alonzo and Marie Lamb. Lola graduated from Cardston High School in 1938 and went to Garbett Business College. During the war, she worked at Crystal Dairy in Lethbridge until she married Doré Malmberg on August 25, 1945. They had three children and lived in Lethbridge, Lacombe, Watrous, SK, and Calgary. She was active in her church and served faithfully in many callings. In Calgary, Lola worked as a nurse’s aide for many years. She was a talented sewer, quilter, knitter, and loved to research her family history. Even through the last months of her illness, she knit baby booties for the mothers in her church. She loved to travel, go camping with her family to Waterton Park, and was known for her hand-dipped chocolates that she made every Christmas. Lola is survived by her son Robert (Gloria) of Calgary; daughters, Diane (Ernie) Landry of Okotoks and Wendy (David) Murray of Calgary; grandchildren, Sandra (Richard) Shannon, Terri Malmberg and Virginia Landry; and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Janelle Shannon. She is also survived by her sister Melba Broadbent; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lola was predeceased by her husband of sixty years Doré in July 2006; her parents Alonzo and Marie; her brothers, Rulon, Herald and Grant Lamb; and sisters, Edna Lamb and Grace Glines.
