MAHONEY, Bruce Wallace

March 8, 1924 – March 5, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Mahoney on Monday, March 5, 2012 at the age of 87 years.

Bruce grew up under the clear blue skies of Saskatchewan. His entrepreneurial spirit served him well in all his work. Bruce enjoyed many good friends and valued and nurtured friendships that lasted a lifetime. He loved nothing more than the telling of a good joke and spending time with family and friends skiing in the mountains or swinging a club on the golf course. In his later years he was delighted to rekindle his friendships with the “Old Bold Pilots” from his days in the RCAF. Bruce’s life was a life well lived.

Bruce is lovingly remembered by his children and their spouses, Dick and Sheila Mahoney, Claudia and Peter Martin; by his granddaughters, Jan Armstrong, Mallory, Meredith and Claire Martin; by his two sisters, Noreen Mahoney and Lynn Garner and his good friend Shirley Aldous. Bruce was predeceased by his loving wife Mary in 2006 and son Mark in 2008.

A Celebration of Bruce’s Life will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to S.T.A.R.S. (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society), Box 570, 1441 Aviation Park N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 8M7 Telephone: (403) 295-1811, www.stars.ca. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Bruce Mahoney, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200

  10. Claudia and Dick and families…it was with great sadness that I learned of your dad’s passing last week while I was away skiing.

    Although I hadn’t seen him in awhile, I’ll always remember his great sense of humour and the stories that he was fond of telling while enjoying a “quiet” drink.

    Be sure that those of us who knew him through Mark will be getting together to toast them both.

    All the best, please keep in touch.
    Bruce

    My dear friends;
    How very sad I am to hear about Bruce’s passing.

    I remember so well how we met at the University of Saskatchewan back in 1947. And I cherish all the fun we had with Bruce and Mary and the kids over the years.

    My thoughts will be with you tomorrow morning as you come together to say “Goodbye” and “We’ll miss you always”.
