It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Norman Mah on Saturday July 27, 2013 at the age of 81 years.
As a young man Norman proudly assumed responsibility for his family; he continued to extend care and kindness to others throughout his life. Norman emigrated from mainland China in 1949 to join his father and establish their family home thus beginning the Mah family’s life in Calgary. Norman was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor and friend to many – shown through his generous lifetime involvement in the Calgary Chinese community.
Norman was predeceased by his son Barry A. Mah who is survived by wife Nancy and sons Ryan and Lucas. Norman is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet; son and daughter-in-law Harry and Christine, granddaughter and husband Nicole and Matt, great-granddaughter Annie; son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Brenda, grandsons Branden, Cody and Mackenzie; daughter Eva; daughter and son-in-law Zeva and Curtis, granddaughter Jade and grandson Kale; sisters Shirley Pon, Kathryn Toy, Mary Anne Andrews; and their families. Norman lived his life filled with dignity, joy, love for family, creativity and a curiosity for learning.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the same location on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
