  4. As a fellow (alto) Singing Mum, my sincere sympathy in the loss of your dear mother/grandmother/sister.
Joy and I have, until very recently, shared many an email, whether it was a joke for her to re-tell, or a piece of music to enjoy. She was a grand lady and will be deeply missed by many.

  6. Ruth, Bob and Jane Shorten send their heartfelt condolences to the MacLean family. The two families took part in many social occasions in Owen Sound: Joy and Ruth curled together, and Janet and Jane were great friends in high school and at Queen’s. Jane has fond memories of many a rousing match of table tennis at the MacLean home. When in Richmond Hill, we always enjoyed a visit from Janet when she was passing through Toronto. Jane is forever grateful to Joy and the family for allowing her to visit Janet in Edmonton a few days before Janet passed away, and will always remember a fiercely passionate, loving mother who showed immense courage and strength caring for her ailing daughter. God bless you, Joy.

  7. Lynne Fawcett :

Great memories of sitting with Joy and watching curling games, some times with tea in a special cup or with a glass of whiskey, and discussing the strategy we would have used. We played perfect games from behind the glass. Thanks for being my friend. I am so sorry for your loss and know that you have your special memories as well.

  8. Hi Jock, Doug, Cathy and Beth,
I simply cannot imagine a world without my beloved mom’s best friend. Your Joy was always in my thoughts: her laughter, her keen intelligence, her caring for you and indeed the whole world, her coffee, her beautiful Sheltie from long ago, and her music.

Thank you Beth for calling me. I have been at our cottage over the holidays where cell phone reception is poor. I so want to come out to Calgary and be with you all, but unfortunately, it is not going to be possible.

Susan, James (as he is now known), and I will be forever connected to you all.

    Much love,

    Joy (Leslie)

  10. Condolences from our entire family at this time of your loss. Over the years, we have had many many miles between our families, however, once we had all moved out “West” we did manage to have some enjoyable family get togethers, although few and far between. We will all miss a warm and wonderful lady.

Cec, Shannon and I have so enjoyed our visits with Joy over the past few years and our sympathies are with you all at this time.

Your Mom was a truly special person and our pleasure in enjoying our times with her knows no bounds. We are honoured to have been related to Joy.
