Dorothy passed away peacefully at Extendicare Cedars Villa on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the age of 97 years after suffering a stroke. She was surrounded by love from family, her caregivers and fellow residents.
Dorothy grew up and married in Winnipeg, then moved to Portage la Prairie where she raised her family and lived for 46 years. After she was widowed, Dorothy moved to Calgary in 1992 and began a “new chapter” in her long life.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Valdine Schroeder (Arnold Bader), her daughter-in-law Brenda Smith, her grandchildren Kathy Schroeder (Johan van Oijen), Angela Schroeder (Geoffrey Pagel), Lindsay Schroeder (Jon Otis), Kim Botsford (Dan), Rhonda McCorriston, Debbie Hatch (Wayne), Dean Mack, Jason Mack (Steph), Lindsay Mack (Mario), and Chelsea Smith, eleven
great-grand- and five great-great-grandchildren, as well as her nieces Junie Halpin and Rosemarie Trotter. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Wilfred Mack, her parents James and Mary Hill, her sister Marge and brother Jack, her son Gerry, daughter Lynnore, son-in-law George Schroeder and her best friend of over 80 years Helen Rickey.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on December 9, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
