May was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on December 11, 1915. At a young age the family moved to Elnora, Alberta and May resided there until her marriage to Kenneth Alexander Macdonald. The war years saw the couple move many times to Air Force bases across western Canada. It was in Saskatchewan when son John (Jack) was born. After the war, the young family moved to Empress where they remained until Ken’s death. May and Jack moved to Calgary where she worked as a nurse at The Grace Hospital and then the General Hospital until her retirement.
After Jack’s death in 1993, May moved to 9800 Horton Road to be closer to family. For the past few years, May has lived with her daughter-in-law Arlene. After a fall on February 20 of this year, May has been in hospital. At her request, the family took her home and surrounded by family she peacefully went to join Ken and Jack.
May is survived by her daughter-in-law Arlene, her granddaughters Kari Hirsekorn and Kelly Macdonald, great-granddaughters, Kennedy and Madison Hirsekorn. She was predeceased by her husband Ken and son Jack.
