Mary returned to Alberta, living in Water Valley then Crossfield. Mary was a compulsive knitter most of her life, in her later years contributing blankets and scarves to a number of charities.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother; her husband Mell of almost fifty years; brother-in-law Donald; and sister-in-law Dorothy; and her close friend Mearl Potter.
