Jim passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2013 surrounded by his children. He leaves behind him his wife of 63 years, Alice, son Robert Lukes (Lola), daughters Judy Walder (Ron) and Joan Reidulff (Len) and six grandchildren; Katie and Sarah Walder, Bryant and Gareth Lukes and Joel and Mitchell Dauter.

Jim was born in Radville, Sask on May 16, 1925. He graduated from the University of Sask in 1947. He married Alice Sheppard in 1949 in Turner Valley. As a member of the North Hill Lions Club for several years, Jim was involved in a variety of community service projects. He held the position of president for one year.

Jim and Alice lived many years in Renfrew and were long standing members of Renfrew United Church. In 1969, they moved to University Heights. They enjoyed the beautiful walks through the university grounds and the great access to the river trails for biking.

Condolence Messages

  1. Gary Grottenberg :

So sorry to hear about Jim’s passing. I knew him as a wonderful man who loved his family and his church, and who laboured hard on behalf of both. Besides singing in the choir and serving on the church board, Jim was one of the original trustees at Renfrew Church, and a devoted follower of Jesus, in whose care he now resides. Rest easy, old friend. Your Renfrew family misses you. You will live in each of our hearts, until we meet again.

  5. Lou MacGregor :

Although I did not see a lot of you since Alice’s illness, you were thought of often. Your attentiveness to both your family and the church family was noticed by me. It was because of you that I eventually got involved on the church board. Rest in peace.

As long time neighbours of Alice and Jim we always enjoyed laughing over the back fence. Jim was the epitome of the kid from Saskatchewan who follows his dream and helps a lot of other people on the way. He will be sorely missed. We send our sincerest condolences to Alice and family.
