LUCERO, Manuel “Maning” L.

November 1, 1929 – Tagudin, Philippines
July 10, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Manuel “Maning” Lucero Sr. beloved husband of the late Felicitas “Citas” Lucero, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the age of 84 years.

Maning was born in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, Philippines it was here he met and married his high school sweetheart Citas, they were together until her passing in 2006 after 50 years of marriage.

He was a Meteorologist who was stationed all over the Philippines before settling in Baguio City where he became Officer in-charge at the PAGASA station. He held this post for many years until his immigration to Canada in 1975 where he worked at the Canada Post in Calgary.

He will always be remembered for his passion in his gardening and fishing but most of all his devotion to the family especially his wife. He was the head of the Lucero clan in Calgary and as well as in the Philippines, a source of strength for everyone. He will be remembered for his generosity, his humble demeanour, his intellect and his ever present smile.

Maning is survived by his children, Manuel “Bebot” (Baby), Hector (Tessie) and Jovit(Lalie); his grandchildren, Shann(Jay), Lauren, Maja, Kaih, Danica and Anthony; his great-grandchildren, Benjamin Jayson and Alexander Jaymes; his sisters, Petra Somera, Caridad Cabebe, Elvira Bauer and Leonora De La Cruz. He was predeceased by his wife Citas; parents Leon and Cleofe; and his sisters Consolacion and Lourdes Lardizabal.

Visitations and prayers will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Thursday, July 17, 2014 and Friday, July 18, 2014 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive N.E.) on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 10:30a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens (17 Avenue SE & Garden Road).
