On Sunday evening Rod died peacefully at home surrounded by his family and his dogs, as was his wish. He bravely fought a short battle with pancreatic cancer with dignity.
Born in Yorkton, Sask., Rod grew up in various cities in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Nova Scotia finally settling in his beloved Calgary in 1976.
Rod was an amazing, caring, loving husband, father, brother and a prominent politician who was also a diehard Detroit Red Wings fan. He is survived by his beloved wife Charlene, his cherished children, James (Aimee), Katie and Haley, along with his siblings Jackie Sterling, Tom Love, Larry Love and Maureen Love and many extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Bee Love.
Family, friends and colleagues are invited to a Celebration at the Calgary Golf and Country Club (One and one half blocks West of Elbow Drive on 50th Avenue S.W.) on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks you make a donation to the Alberta Cancer Society on his behalf.Print This Obituary & Condolences
