LOSIER-LONG, Bernice
September 22, 1958 – December 20, 2011
After a brave and unrelenting battle with ALS, Bernice Marie Losier-Long of Calgary passed away Tuesday, December 20th, 2011 at the age of 53 years.
Born in Tracadie-Sheila, New Brunswick, Bernice was a longtime resident of Calgary. For the past twenty years she was employed with Russel Metals Inc., most recently in the position of Credit Manager. She was loved by all who knew her through her many acts of kindness, wisdom, generosity, warmth and sense of humor. She was a talented cook, a caring mother, a loving wife and held a special fondness for family, the outdoors and travel. Her presence will be dearly missed.
Bernice is survived by her loving husband, Ron Long and two beautiful daughters, Sarah, 22, and Alex, 15. Bernice was part of a large supportive family of eleven children including four sisters – Micheline Losier (Louise Lapointe), Montreal, Ginette Losier (Jean-Marie Robichaud), Gatineau,QC, Claudine Robichaud (Oneil), Tracadie-Sheila, NB and Joanne Lefort (Gordon), Oakville, ON, and five brothers, Claude (Elda) and Guy (Micheline) of Tracadie-Sheila, NB, Yvon (Yvette Arseneault) of Iqaluit, NT, Mauril (Debbie) of Mississauga, ON and Daniel of Calgary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Melita and her parents Azade Losier and Rosanna (Hache). Bernice is also survived by her father-in-law Dennis Long and brother-in-law Gary Long (Beth) and family of Calgary.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. I wasn’t lucky enough to meet Bernice in person, but I got to know her through Ron’s stories. His admiration and adoration for his beautiful wife was always very evident. In the past few years he spoke often of her fortitude and courage. She will greatly missed and my thoughts and prayers are with her family.

What a beautiful picture, what a beautiful wife, mother, sister………She shall be greatly missed. Full of life and love……..It really has been a few years of loss. This year in one of my Christmas cards I received a poem ” My First Christmas In Heaven” and although it made me cry it also gave me great joy to read it so I shall share it with you.
I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heaven’s stars, reflected on the snow.
This sight is so spectacular, please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can’t compare with the Christmas choir up here.
