Laureen Hilda Louise Logan of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the age of 70 years, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Laureen was born in Grande Prairie, AB on May 23, 1942, the second oldest child of Harry and Ruth Logan of Crooked Creek, AB. Laureen lived in many different locales across Alberta, including Stettler, Peace River, Rocky Mountain House and Calgary, establishing many long friendships along the way. A devoted Catholic, Laureen had a long and fulfilling career with the Royal Bank. Laureen was a woman of many talents; a seamstress; artist and a fabulous cook. She loved to create. Special projects included sewing weddings gowns for her daughter and daughter-in-law, creating quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchild, and painting numerous pictures for her home and others. Laureen loved to travel and was thrilled to be able to have traveled to Europe with her sisters, godchild and a niece. She enjoyed music and loved to sing.
Laureen is survived by her children, Tracey Mackie (Wes Schockenmaier) of Grovedale, AB, Darren Huculak and Todd Huculak, both of Calgary, and Trevor Huculak (Chelsee Lipiski) of Okotoks, AB; grandchildren, Chad Schockenmaier, Kaleb Shuttleworth Huculak, Tully Ann and Parker Huculak; and great-grandchild Mali Schockenmaier. Laureen is also survived by her mother Ruth Logan; brothers, Willard, Robert and Gerald; and sisters, Corriene, Dawn and Myrna; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her father Harry Logan and brother Lonnie as well as her first husband Gerald Brian Mackie.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church (7103 – 20A Street Calgary, AB S.E.) on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (Crooked Creek, AB) on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
