LLOYD, Margaret Alice (nee Pocock)

December 14, 1908 – Raddison, SK
November 29, 2013 – Calgary, AB

Margaret Lloyd passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Friday, November 29, 2013 just two weeks shy of her 105th birthday.

Margaret was the first of eight children born to Walter and Gertrude Pocock in Raddison, SK. She grew up in Unity, SK and graduated from St. Paul’s School of Nursing (Saskatoon) in 1930. She practiced nursing in Unity, Saskatoon, Scarborough and Mississauga. Great Mama, as she was named by her great-grandchildren was well known for her volunteer work in her church and the communities where she lived. At the young age of 93 she was still calling Bingo for the “Old People”. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and by her family whom she loved so dearly.

Margaret is survived by her two grandchildren Dr. Rob and his wife Sandy Lloyd (Hamilton, ON) and Deanna and her husband Glenn Burchnall (Cochrane, AB); four great-grandchildren Samantha Lloyd, Evan Lloyd, Kaitlyn Burchnall-Rooke and Heather Burchnall; her sister Olive Bassett (Richmond, BC); and daughter-in-law Shirley Lloyd (Calgary, AB). She was predeceased by her husband and first love, Rob Roy Lloyd and her cherished only child Gary Lloyd.

A private family service will be held. Condolences may be forwarded through The family are grateful for the loving care she received from Dr. Gladman and the staff at Chinook Care Centre in Calgary.
