LLOYD, James William

June 18, 1928 – November 3, 2012

James William Lloyd of Calgary, AB, passed away on November 3, 2012 at the age of 84 years after battling kidney disease for several years.

Jim was predeceased by Eleanor, his wife of 39 years, in 1992, and is survived by his sons Brent (Lee Ann) and Jeff (Barbara) and grandchildren Braeden, Taryn, Liam, Matthew and William. Jim was born in Eskbank, SK – son of Arthur and Eleanor and brother of Betty (Hanes). He met his love, Eleanor, and they were married in 1953. They started their family and lived for many years in Regina, and later moved to Calgary. Jim’s outgoing nature enabled him to make many friends and to really enjoy life.

Jim worked in the produce business his entire working life. He worked for Scott National, a wholesale food distributor, for 40 years in various capacities in Moose Jaw, Regina and Calgary, where he retired as Vice President, Produce Sales & Marketing. Later he and Brent established Fresh Factor, a produce brokerage company that they ran together for several years before selling it. He was widely admired and respected in the industry.

Before he was sidelined by health problems, Jim was a keen gardener, an avid golfer and world traveler. A highlight in his later years was wintering in Mesa, AZ, where he enjoyed and valued many friendships.

A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, November 12, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Jim was very well cared for by the staff of Lake Bonavista Village during the years he lived there, and by the staff of Sarcee Hospice during his final days, for which his family is very grateful.
