June 15, 1929 – May 1, 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Lindsay on Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
Barbara was born in Wednesbury, West Bromwich, England to Frederick and Elsie Barnsley and is survived by her sister Doreen Fieldhouse; brother John (Margaret) Barnsley; son Blair (Bev); daughter Diane (Rick); grandchildren, Stephen, Adam and David; nieces and nephews in both Canada and the UK.
Barbara had fond memories of her childhood growing up in Scotland and performing in school plays. Barbara married Jim Lindsay in 1959 and they immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1960. Barbara worked for a law firm before starting her family and becoming a fulltime homemaker. She was a talented seamstress, making clothing for the whole family and she enjoyed cooking and baking. She was the co-owner of a book and gift store in Montreal before the family moved to Alberta in 1981, and worked for many years at the Glenbow Museum in Calgary.
Barbara loved spending time with her family and took great enjoyment watching her children and grandsons grow up. She spent her entire life doing for her family, and always put her family’s needs ahead of her own. She will be remembered for her generosity, engaging smile and kind heart.
The family will hold a private service, at her request. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
