LIEN, Marie “Colette” (nee Marchand)

March 7, 1945 – April 2, 2012

Colette Lien of Calgary passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the age of 67 years.

Colette was born in Rockglen, SK and attended Gray Nuns School of Nursing. She worked at the Radville Hospital in Saskatchewan. During her marriage to Roger Lien they lived in Dallas, TX, Fort St. John, BC and eventually Calgary. Colette was a long time volunteer with the Calgary Board of Education which led to a rewarding part-time job working with special needs children. She also worked part-time at the Jubilee Auditorium and was nominated for a White Hatter award. Following her diagnosis with cancer, Colette enjoyed both jobs as long as she could.

Colette is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Chris Neurauter and their children Connor and Ashlynn all of Kamloops, BC. She is also survived by her siblings, Valerie (Allan) MacKenzie, Charles Marchand, Ronald (Sharleen) Marchand and Jack Marchand and their families. Colette was predeceased by her parents Helen and Louis Marchand.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 Telephone: 1 (866) 412-4222. The family would like to thank staff and doctors on unit 47 at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre especially Dr. Lupichuk and Rae.

    I’m deeply saddened to learn of Colette’s passing. We were co-workers at the Jubilee Auditorium. She loved serving the patrons and always added a little extra to make someone feel special. I’ll remember her for her caring heart and courage through her battle with cancer. I’m grateful to have known her. She will be missed and remembered with fondness.
