June 1, 1928 – June 17, 2012
Raymond (Ray) Robert Liderth, beloved husband of Eileen Liderth of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at the age of 84 years.
Ray was born in Liverpool, England. He served with the Army of Occupation in Germany and reached the rank of Lieutenant with the Kings Own Regiment before joining the British Parachute Corps.
He immigrated to Canada in 1954 and worked and lived in Toronto before moving west and meeting Eileen Shepherd in Lethbridge, AB. They were married on May 12, 1956 and moved to northwest Calgary where they first lived in Highwood before moving to Brentwood where they lived for 39 years.
Ray was a Registered Industrial Accountant (RIA) and worked in the private sector before becoming a senior corporate tax auditor and manager with the federal government. He was also a convert to Catholicism and among the most significant milestones in his life were his own baptism and the birth – and baptism – of his four children.
Ray was a staunch supporter of the Calgary Pro Life Association and of the city’s Birthright chapter. He volunteered for these and other organizations following retirement, including the Bethany Care Society.
Ray is survived by his wife Eileen; and children, David (Jude) of Calgary, Patricia (Al) of Victoria, BC, Mark (Brenda) of Toronto, ON and Vincent (Carol-Anne) also of Victoria, BC; together with his grandchildren, Joshua, Diana and Jenny.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church (835 Northmount Drive N.W.) on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
