1928 – 2013
Kazia died peacefully at the Chinook Hospice, Calgary, surrounded by loving family on September 23. Kazia died as she had lived: a woman of dignity, simplicity and faith.
Kazia was born in Kunin, Poland on April 20, 1928. She was the daughter of Adam and Maria Reputakowski, beloved sister to Janine, Eugene, John and Wiktoria.
After surviving World War II, she left behind her small village to join her mother, father and brother who had located to Breton in 1959. She arrived in Canada, not speaking a word of English, crossing the ocean on a ship taking her to a new land and life. She met her husband Charlie, had three children and continued to live doing what she loved most—feeling the sun on her skin and the earth under her fingers. She was a woman who enjoyed the simplicity and abundance of living on the land and was an organic farmer before the term became popular.
When life was over on the farm in St Francis; her passion of the earth led to a bounty of gardening and tending to her flowers in Breton. She and Charlie lived a small town life until Charlie passed away in 2003. Life took a turn, and she responded by moving closer to her children. She moved to Cochrane, to be close to her kids and her beloved grandson Jared. She tended her children as she did her garden—with love and devotion. Kazia lived at Big Hill Lodge in Cochrane until she moved to Scenic Acres retirement in 2013.
Faced with ongoing medical issues she persevered and smiled through the worst of the never ending surgeries and hospital stays. She held onto her faith and devotion and made the best of dwindling health.
Our mother was a woman who will be forever remembered by the smell of fresh baked bread, her bright smile, beautiful blue eyes, her profound faith, and a never ending supply of love for her family.
Kazia was predeceased by her husband Charlie in 2003, and her son Ted in 2007. She is survived by her daughters Rose (Terry) Plante, Irene Lichon and beloved grandson Jared Plante. She is survived by sister Wiktoria (Wiktor) Zaleska in Warsaw, Poland and brother Eugene (Lucy) Reputakowski in Radom, Poland and many nieces and nephews in both Canada and overseas.
She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten.Print This Obituary & Condolences
