Ede, as she liked to be called, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the age of 94.
Left to honour her memory are sister Ada Stephenson of Saskatoon; nieces Margo (Brant) Randles and Dawn (Mark) Marshall; nephew Jack (Patti) Stephenson and grandnieces and nephews Drew, Kelsey, Erin, Adam and Libby. She was predeceased by her parents Flora and Harold Leopold, brother Harold, sister Nina and brother-in-law John Stephenson.
Ede was born on Robbie Burns Day, 1920. She grew up on the farm at Stranraer, Sask. attending Stranraer School. In 1938 she attended the U of S (PhysEd) leaving in 1940 to work at #4 S.F.T.S. Saskatoon. Postwar she started her 39 year career with Cominco in Trail, followed by 29 years in the Calgary office. Her greatest passion was sports. Early she excelled at track and field, hockey and softball. Later she shone at curling and is in the Hall of Fame with the Calgary Comet Softball team. She was an avid Stampeders fan. Upon retirement she travelled the world.
A Celebration of Ede’s Life will be held at the Calgary Golf and Country Club on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 11:30 – 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
