LEITCH, Helen Judith “Judy”

June 12, 1947 – North Vancouver, British Columbia
December 12, 2013 – Calgary, Alberta

Helen Judith “Judy” Leitch, beloved wife of Art Leitch of Calgary, AB, passed away at the Salvation Army Agape Hospice on Thursday, December 12, 2013 after a lengthy illness.

Mom was born on June 12, 1947 in North Vancouver, BC. She was a loving, kind, supportive, strong, directly honest, loyal, creative individual with a wonderful sense of humor. She has touched many lives, was loved, and will be missed by many. She was a loving wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She devoted her life to her home and family.

Over the years, our home had many people welcomed into our family and Judy became a second Mom to them. She loved to be in her yard and tend to her flowers and flower gardens, cook, entertain and listen to music. There are many memories of card games, camping trips, and travel.

Judy is survived by Art, her loving husband of forty-five years; children, Rob (Pat) Leitch of Strathmore, Debbie (Wes) Wiebe of Kimberley, BC, Vivian (Dick) Shardlow, Keith (Kim) Leitch, all of Calgary, and Tammy (Carl) McGovern of High River, AB. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Bill (Sharon) Leitch, Mike Leitch, Chris (Erica) Wiebe, Gary, Andrew (Christie) and Jennifer Tattersall, Chad and Chelsea Leitch, Kyle and Tyler Kinghorn, and Hayley McGovern; eight great-grandchildren, Dade and Eli, Angie and Tyson, Annie and Jayda, Mason and Kyran, with another baby boy due to arrive in February; her brother, Neil (Gilda) McClain of Calgary; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and lifetime friend Laurie Rae.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Harry and Lottie (Henderson) McClain, Olaf and Brynla (Hattleskog) Lidvall; her parents Theodore and Irene McClain; sisters, Carol, Marlene, Cleo, and Glenna; and brother Lyle.

“Cry for her a little. Think of her at moments pleasant to recall.”

A Celebration of Judy’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
