July 8, 2013 – Calgary, AB
Doreen Leggett of Calgary passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the age of 65 years.
Doreen was born in Montreal in 1947. She moved to Edmonton in 1969 and worked for Imperial Oil. It was there she met and married Robert Leggett. They later moved to Calgary and in 1987 she gave birth to her only son, Jason William Leggett, the light of her life. Doreen was one of the founding members of the Calgary South West United Soccer Association (CSWU) and dedicated a significant portion of her time to providing the youth of Calgary an opportunity to play, develop and excel in soccer. Doreen was involved in community soccer for over twenty years, as a parent/team manager, cheering on her son Jason and his teammates, as a volunteer organizing local events, at the board level (Shaw-nee Soccer) and as a valuable member of the CSWU team in many roles. Doreen’s passion was supporting children playing organized sports and she worked closely with the charity, Kidsport. She bravely battled cancer for the last six years and remained strong throughout her illness. On Monday, July 8th in the early morning she was no longer in pain and was finally at peace.
Doreen Leggett (nee Wilde) will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son, Jason William Leggett (Lauren Frandle) and her brothers, Bruce, Robert (Lisa), Earl (Michelle Le Sage) and their children Alex and Courtney Wilde. Doreen is also survived by her mother Eileen Margaret Wilde. She was predeceased by her father Francis John Wilde and her sister Carol Wilde.
