It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Clayton Lefthand on Friday March 7, 2014. He was blessed by his loving children, Dwight (Lena), Erica, Kirsten (Richie), Kyle (Fiona), Mark (Lorelee), Wendell (Julie-ann); grandson Alton (Cheyenne) and partner Retha and her children. He preciously cherished and loved his six granddaughters, six grandsons and one great granddaughter. He is survived by his siblings Ferlin, Kevin (Kathy), Georgina (Alex), Julie (Darcy), adopted siblings Beverly and Erica Simeon and Dwayne Chocan. He will be happily remembered by his nieces and nephews, relatives and friends from Morley, Eden Valley, Hobbema and afar. Clayton was predeceased by his parents Johnny Poucette and Ivy Lefthand, his brother Mitchell Lefthand and his granddaughter Gabrielle Young.
Clayton grew up in Morley, Alberta. Growing up he was a horseman, an all-around athlete, and a self-taught musician. He had a passion for children and youth. He devoted part of his life to organizing youth sports leagues, coaching hockey teams and serving as a board member on the Alberta Native Hockey Board for several years. He was an active community member who shared his humour and loved his people.
Wake services will be held at the residence of Erica Rider on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 and Wednesday March 12, 2014. Funeral services will be held at the Morley Gymnasium, Morley, AB on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 12:00pm. Graveside service will follow at Wesley Cemetery, Morley, AB. The family would like to thank Dr. Louise Feddema, all the doctors and nurses in the Hemodialysis Unit at Foothills Medical Center and all who gave their time to care for and comfort him during his medical hardships. The family apologizes for those we forgot to mention for there were many special people in his life.
