Condolence Messages

  1. Hello
I was saddened to hear of Eleanor’s passing, and I give thanks for her rich and long life. Just the other day I was speaking to a friend about “the Leaches” and the incredible garden they had at their cottage. I have so many great memories of time spent up and down Birch Road. One is that I heard my very first “rock and roll” in your boat house. We are still at the end of the road enjoying Lake Echo, and now watching grandchildren run around. Time flies.
    Blessings to you all,

  2. Dear Geoffrey, Dick, Linda and David,

This is a very sad time for you and your families. Even though your Mother lived a long life, you will miss her greatly.

I have such wonderful memories of your Mum and Dad over so many years and I do think of them. Your Mother’s sweet smile was always present!

You are all in my thoughts and I send my deepest sympathies.

Dear Linda, Geoffrey, Dick and David,

Although we are distant cousins, I’m not sure I’ve met any of you, other than Dick. I was so saddened to read of your mother’s death–her connection to our family goes back a long way, and both Auntie Kay Leathem and my dad, Bob, had many fine times together from McGill days and on. When your parents lived at Lac Echo they enjoyed cross-country skiing several times. We are still all at Lac des Iles–our generation, that is, and many of us are retired and enjoying the Lake. I have so many fond memories of your mother and her beautiful smile. I am thinking of you all, and send my sincerest sympathy,

  4. Patricia Leathem Nelson :

I was so very sorry to read in the Gazette today that Eleanor had passed away. My Mum, Kay Leathem, was so very fond of Eleanor. As well as being second cousins, they were fellow McGill alumnae, and they travelled together to Europe on several occasions. Eleanor helped Mum celebrate her 80th birthday at a surprise party at Lac des Iles.

I want to send my condolences to all the family, and particularly remember Dick who rented Mum’s house at the Lake on at least one occasion, and whom we visited (and Sonja) near Palgrave with Mum one Christmas. I also chatted with Linda several times when it became too difficult for Eleanor to speak on the phone.

Eleanor was a lovely, gentle lady and Mum considered her a close and special friend.

    God Bless!

    With love to you all

    Pat (Leathem) Nelson

  5. janet Holden Brumell :

    Dear Leach Family,
Our mothers were old Montreal West friends. They all formed deep friendships in those days and seemed to keep in touch until their ages caught up with them. My own mother Jean Holden passed away two years ago. It is very difficult to say good bye but they all seemed to lead good lives leaving us all with many memories.
    Thinking of you all,
    Janet Holden Brumell

    Dear Dick
Our sincere condolences. We met your mom just once, a very long time ago, after picking mushrooms, in the Laurentians, near your cottage and remember her as a gentle lady tending a beautiful English garden.

Give us a call if you come to Montreal for the interment.
