Stan Larsen, beloved husband of Maxine of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Intercare Brentwood/Whitehorn Care Centre on Friday, April 23, 2004 at the age of 78 years.
Stan was born in Coronation, AB and was the third child of Christian and Lucy Larsen. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II prior to working for the Calgary Herald as a Stereotyper for forty-two years. When Stan was not working, his great passions in life revolved around gardening, skiing, hiking, golfing, camping and bridge playing. Stan was a storyteller, and gleaned his stories from his many life adventures with life-long friends and family. He loved to visit with others and was blessed with many kind and thoughtful friends. One of his great joys was to sit around the campfire, reminiscing about old times; the happy, the sad, the funny and the downright ridiculous.
Stan leaves many stories with his wife Maxine; his children, Michael and Karen Larsen of Keg River, Gwen and Randy Wheeler of Cold Lake, and Stephen and Kim Larsen of Calgary; nine grandchildren, Catherine (Jared), Christian, Kieran, Ian, Sage, Wade, Emma, Mitchell and Anika; sisters Lana Withage of Barrhead, and Hilda Wilcox of Imperial, SK; sister-in-law Nancy Urch of Sherwood Park; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his cherished daughter Janie in 1974.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church (1121 – 14th Avenue S.W.) on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at 11:30 A.M. To forward condolences go to www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
